As a furniture maker I have worked with private clients up and down the country creating unique bespoke pieces of furniture by hand and still work on commissions. I have also exhibited work as part of design exhibitions in the BALTIC centre for contemporary, the Shipley Art Gallery in Gateshead and the Bowes Museum in Barnard Castle. I am a member of Heritage Crafts and have been awarded a gold award certificate from CraftCourses.com
My passion for woodworking has led me to offer beginner and intermediate hand tool woodworking courses, where enthusiasts can learn the art of woodworking here in the workshop in the beautiful wildlife site Harehope Quarry near Frosterley, County Durham. I take pride in craftsmanship and attention to detail, ensuring that each piece I make tells a story of dedication and artistry and is truly as unique as the raw material I use. My Story
I have always made things. Growing up on the Northumberland Coast, when I wasn’t on the beach my childhood days were filled with making stuff - whether it was lego models, wooden swords and shields or go-karts. I even tried to make a hang glider which although didn’t fly was a summer well spent in my eyes. As I grew, making and fixing become the norm for me and I would often (and still do) see opportunity in the most unlikely scrap of wood or be convinced that is something was broken I could fix it.

It was this passion for making and creating that made me decide to quit my boring office job to become a furniture maker full time. The road was a long one filled with mistakes and struggles, but nearly two decades later I am where I envisaged I would be when I was a child. Sat in a stunning landscape (now in Weardale, Co Durham - although I still miss the beach!), in a workshop creating things that make me smile.
