It can be daunting getting started with woodcarving, from getting to grips with what tools you need, to choosing the right timber for you project.
 
Our 1 day crash course in hand carving will give you all you need to get started. Over the course of a day we work through understanding grain direction and how this affects your carving to when to use different chisels to tackle your carving project. All tools and materials are provided for your course so you don’t need to bring any tools with you. By the end of the day, you will have tried carving both lettering and simple shapes. Carving is a skill that can be a challenge especially if you are looking to carve into something that you have spent time making or something that is precious to you.
